Robert Picardo: "Spirit Hunters" DTV Movie Going to Cannes

This movie was filmed for under $5 million and was originally planned for direct-to-video distribution, but producers have hoped for a different path if possible.

They'll be at the Cannes Film Festival that's starting May 11 and ends May 22. Robert Picardo makes an appearance in it, but doesn't have a major role.

Here are some of the details:

From Dread Central: Synopsis: A cinematographer and soundman, Morgan and Cricket, head to a remote Idaho ranch to film the pilot episode of “Spirit Seekers,” a new reality TV show about ghost hunters. When the host dies during filming, the production shuts down. Unbeknownst to the cast and crew, the show’s director planned the host’s death to boost ratings. Dr. Randolf Fairfax (Doug Jones) fears the bloodshed has awoken supernatural spirits that are now hellbent on their own revenge! The crew must try to survive, dodging bullets, ghosts, and scheming television producers (played by Star Trek’s Robert Picardo and Michael Dorn) as they race to find out what is really going on at the end of the road.

From the movie's Facebook page, managed by Monte M. Moore, the movie's writer/screenwriter and co-producer: Ok, the news is finally out of the shadows, and for all you tracking my movie making, End of the Road has been picked up for foreign sales by American World Pictures and will be debuting next week in France at the Cannes Film Market under it's new title "Spirit Hunters". Thank you to all who made this happen!

Just to clarify, we are AT the Cannes festival, but not IN it, our film is available for International distribution by our sales partner American World Pictures.

According to Moore, the movie's title was changed from End of the Road to Spirit Hunters for the international market.

In addition to its IMDb profile, the movie also has a home page that includes an image gallery (no images of Picardo, though), press, and a trailer.

... I hung around to do a quickie interview for Canada’s Space which will follow up Tuesday night’s series finale, Gauntlet, with a special Stargate-laden installment of Innerspace. From what I hear, they got A LOT of interviews with Stargate personalities – David Blue, David Hewlett, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Louis Ferreira, Alaina Huffman, Brian J. Smith, and Jewel Staite (to name a few) – who’ll be talking about the franchise and its fans. Don’t miss it!
